Jesus Mind Glaze
Heartbreak World
“Heartbreak World” is an album that tells a story. Jesus Mind Glaze, also known as Cameron Lowe, has carefully crafted an aural journey that takes the listener back in time to the creative explosion of the late 1960's, hurls them through outer space, confronts deep and powerful emotional life experiences, and brings forth your inner child...all in one album! Echoing the inventive spirit of the Beatles, “Heartbreak World” immerses the listener in the psychedelic world of early Barrett-era Pink Floyd, while reflecting the obsessive precision reminiscent of Brian Wilson’s Pet Sounds and capturing the childlike existential wonder of the Flaming Lips.
A wide instrumental palette gives the album a layered, kaleidoscopic sound, with strings, horns, and woodwinds carefully balanced against modern & vintage keyboards, modular synthesizers, and a treasure chest of percussion. While some arrangements were guided by sounds Cameron had already envisioned, others were shaped by the creative instincts of his formidable roster of featured musicians, including Beck’s Roger Manning Jr., Father John Misty’s Chris Darley, and Whiplash drum double Kyle Crane.
The lyrics were forged with care, deliberate enough to appear on their own physical insert, letting listeners take in every word alongside the album’s intricate arrangements. They move from poetic imagery to playful tongue-in-cheek moments, balancing introspection with humor while continuing to tell a precise tale.
“It’s a wonderful record for fans of psychedelia from modern day MGMT to classic Pink Floyd. Great flow coheres on Side A like 'Abbey Road' in reverse, to a little more stylistic variety on the flip. An LP album made for vinyl!” - DJ Lon Palmer of Poptopia Parkway on KSER FM, Everett, Washington
